Pownce Is Officially Shutting Down

I just got the official notice today (even though I have been hearing rumors for some time now) that Pownce is officially shutting down shop on December 15th. I guess you can’t hit home runs with everything you do huh? Pownce had potential, but when Twitter came along and had such a better interface, not to mention you didn’t have to “get an invite” etc. I used Pownce a few times, never really saw much from it, or liked it all that much so I am not really sad about it going away. What are your thoughts about it shutting down?
Here is the official word from the email tonight:
We are sad to announce that Pownce is shutting down on December 15,
2008. As of today, Pownce will no longer be accepting new users or new
pro accounts.
