25 Ways to Get your New Blog Indexed in Search Engines

September 24th, 2009

In case you didn’t see it, Problogger‘s blog had a post about how to a new blog indexed in search engines like Google. I recommend this even for established blogs. Simply create a “to do” list and work on adding your blog to each site.

Or, hire someone to do this for you (see the end for my recommendation).

25 Ways to Get a Web Site or Blog Indexed by Google or Search Engines

  1. Get a link from an established blog. You could email and ask a related blog or hit up your blogging friends. Some pay for this (although it’s frowned upon). Another way to do this legally is to offer to guest post on someone’s blog and link back to your site or blog with a keyword phrase.
  2. Tell Google about your blog.
  3. Tell Google blog search too.
  4. Add your site to Google Webmaster Central

4 Very Real Reasons To Have A Blog

April 8th, 2009

I have been blogging for several years now and am a big proponent of blog use. In fact, last week I was conducting a webinar and got carried away preaching about the importance of company blogging. During the webinar I was asked again if having a blog was “essential” for a company. The questioner wanted to know specifically why I felt having a blog was important and wanted specific examples and ideas of good blogs so they had some direction in their blog planning. In other words – don’t just tell me to have a blog because its important, but tell me why it is important and give me specific examples and ideas of blogs who are doing things the right way. So, I gave my spill of answers. But then I got to thinking if the people who are following me on Twitter had the same or similar answers – and they did! (BTW, I appreciate all of you who answered me).

SEO Blogging: Making Your Blog Post SEO Efficient

January 30th, 2009

Talking with a client the other day, I was asked how to write a blog post that is efficient from an SEO prospective, yet is still worthy of a read from her customers; here is the answer.  I have written about this before elsewhere, but figured I might as well post it here too.

Blogging Tip List:

  1. First of all, hopefully you are writing something that is interesting and relates to your reader.  Every now and then I post something that might just be funny, or not really related to the theme of any certain blog I’m writing on, but in most cases if you are in the industry of money management and your traffic visiting your site is hitting it via words related to money management, than by all means write about that topic instead of what you had for breakfast this morning.

Are You A Two Pump Chump?

December 10th, 2008

Pardon the fun title (you either get it or you don’t, but I am leaving it there) - I guess I should have asked - Are you a two post chump that gives up on blogging after only posting twice during an entire month, one of which was a press release?  You walk away saying, blogging is not a good fit for our company, it did nothing for us.  If this is you, and you find yourself saying this – you are absolutely right to walk away, you two post chump.

If you wanna redeem yourself, and figure out where you may have gone wrong, then keep reading.  I honestly did not want to post about this today, but after reading a post talking about only 16% of consumers trusting corporate blogs it got me thinking, and it got me a little irritated.
