This Post Is Dedicated To Matt McGee

March 5th, 2010

How about this for a headline: Matt McGee, an Arizona Cardinals fan?

Matt McGee, a great friend of mine was such an awesome sport about this. Ok, maybe he was a little upset at himself for making this bet (The Arizona Cardinals would get further in the 2009 season than the Seahawks), but we had fun with it. To show my appreciation to Matt I wanted to make sure and post the pics for ALL to see. Here ya go Matt:

This looks hard for this Seahawks fan

What a good sport wearing the jersey during his Twitter clinc

Dream Systems Media SMX West 2010 Speaking Schedule

February 23rd, 2010

I am speaking at SMX West

A couple of us from Dream Systems Media will be speaking at SMX West, and we are pretty excited about it.  Myself and David Mink are going to be speaking on a combined total of 4 panels.  They are some awesome subjects with some even cooler speakers!  Here is a run down of our speaking schedule.  We are very excited to be speaking with some of these other awesome speakers!  We are also very thankful that our 3rd team member Andy Melchior will be holding down the DSM fort for us while we are gone!

Matt Siltala speaking schedule:

Local & Mobile Search Track

Mobile Search Apps & Opportunities – Away from your computer, but need to search for something? There’s a smart phone app for that! More than 100,000 for the iPhone, 20,000 and growing for Google’s Android. This session looks at popular search apps on different devices, how they gather data and opportunities they offer to search marketers.

Dream Systems Media, Matt Siltala @ SMX East NYC 2009

October 2nd, 2009

It is hard to believe how time flies and that its almost the end of the year.  It seems like just yesterday we were all out at SMX West enjoying each others company.  We wanted to let you know where Dream Systems Media will be, who is speaking and make sure to remind you to come up and say hi to us!  We want to meet as many people as we possible can in real life!

I’m speaking at SMX EastSMX East 2009 New York City:  Oct. 4th – 7th

I will be speaking on a panel the first day Monday (bright and early folks, so not to much partying Sunday night) Oct. 5 @ 10:45 AM – 12:00 PM Mobile Search Apps & Opportunity, where I will be focusing on the iPhone Yelp App, and some opportunities that surround Yelp in general.  It is going to be an informative session, even if you don’t own an iPhone – you will want to see what other customers are seeing, and how they are searching your business on Yelp.

8 Gurus That “Get” Twitter Answer Questions

People You Need To Follow On Twitter

People You Need To Follow On Twitter

I love getting feedback from my readers. I especially love getting questions; and do my best to help at any opportunity.  The other day I received a question from “Lise” about using Twitter.  She had some valid questions and points of concern regarding Twitter that I wanted to address in a blog post.  To do that, I thought I would bring in some Twitter “gurus” to help me answer this question.

I really appreciate these amazing Internet marketers taking the time out of their very busy days to answer these questions.  I really think this can benefit a lot of people and hope you will feel its worth the read!

Here is the comment & question that “Lise” asked me:

Developments in privacy law: Does your business have a legal obligation to encrypt sensitive personal information?

February 18th, 2009

Fast forward one year from now and imagine that one of your employees has just returned from a successful business trip to Boston. Actually, the employee killed it and he is coming home with a lot of new customer names and corresponding credit card numbers!

The employee comes into the office Monday morning and reports, “Boss, I have some good news and some bad news. Which would you like first?” You opt for the good news – and he informs you that he is pretty sure that he broke the company record for sales. Now the bad news, he informs you that his laptop was stolen or lost sometime during the return trip. However, he says everything will be fine because he has all of the customer’s business cards and he is planning on calling each customer today to recover all of the lost data. Is everything “fine”?

Increasing Your Productivity – SMX Live Blogging

February 12th, 2009

Thomas Schmitz

When it comes to whether you should use SEO tools you must consider both the good and the bad – like every other choice in life. Tools are good for gathering data. However, tools can be expensive, produce inherent errors, and have many limitations.

Scripts are tools that you create. Save time. Save money. Thomas recommends adapting your scripts from existing open source code.

Recommends having a routine that looks something like this:

1. Begin your day with email, bloglines, and Twitter. With Twitter just looks for DM’s and @replies.

2. Write your new blog posts.

3. Now do everything else. Deal with clients. Deal with business. Deal with finances. etc.

David says that he is really big on structuring his email. (Our own Andrew Melchior is a wizard with organizing email!) Develop a category structure.
