Our own Matt Siltala was presented with two fairly prestigious awards this week:
1) Matt’s article entitled “Free Local Marketing Options that Bring Real Traffic” was recognized by Techipedia as one of the Best Internet Marketing Posts of 2008

2) Matt has been asked to speak on social media at SMX West 2009 (Feb. 10-12 in Santa Clara, CA)

I had to write this post because I knew Matt never would – believe it or not the man can be too humble. Matt is hands down one of the best Internet marketing minds on the globe and continues to be at the forefront of search and social media development. Congrats brother on two awards well deserved! So please follow suit and give Matt some props in the comments.

Ok, I will be the first to admit that the NFC West was not much to talk about this year. The Cardinals winning the division with the kind of record they did shows you how bad the division was. I don’t care about all that – the Cardinals are in the playoffs and I hope they do well and end up surprising everyone.
I got my Father in Law tickets for his Christmas present, but the suprise was still to come: (after the game – keep reading)

…And what movies did I love this year? —————————————————->
I told my wife I am not going to work today, so I thought I would blog about something non work related, and still get my blog fix in for the day … heh!
A couple of the Christmas gifts I got this year were DVDs – Hancock and The Dark Knight – two movies that are now on my all time top list of movies I love. It got me thinking of all the great movies I have seen this year, as well as the ones that wasted my time. Now remember this is my list, and I am no movie critic, but I do watch a lot of movies – so here goes:

Warning – checking out the Santa Tracker via – NORAD may lead to the loss of your computer!

Santa Tracker by NORAD
I was working on some stuff and noticed a tweet by @factive about losing his laptop to his kids due to the Santa Tracker:
So I decided to show my kids (not heeding the hidden warning) and they took it over:
The response I expected:
So let this be a warning to all those not wanting to lose their computer or laptops for the next several hours! Also this is a great opportunity for us at Dream Systems Media to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas Eve! We hope you get everything you want! Thanks to Cameron for playing along with me!
(Lucky I have another computer to be able to post this!!!)

I got this sent to me via email today, and thought it was funny enough to pass along here. I usually don’t do this sort of thing, but thought it was worth it this time. I just wanna know one thing from the Ladies – Does this offend you, or make you laugh too? Guys out there – How many of this would be nice to have? My wife just laughed it off. I think its pretty funny. Anyway here is what I guess every man wants for Christmas:

I read a story today about Dell making some changes to their business model in order to keep jobs, not eliminate them. They are going to be changing the packaging of their products in order to cut costs, and keep employees. If you are interested in the full story check out the link I provided above, but I just wanted to take this chance to give Dell a big Kudos!
In this economy, and the news you hear or read today everything is bad or a scandal. Big corporations going bankrupt, or cutting 1000s of jobs. One story today talking about the job loss rate being the worst since the 70s, and another story talking about some idiots ponzi scheme costing investors $50 billion.

I learned a good lesson from my two year old about working harder, not smarter today – I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Today while I was working, and my wife was out of the house, I had the two year old all to myself. If any of you have ever tried to do much with a two year old, you know where this is going. I had a lot of stuff on my plate this morning that I had to get done, and I really was hoping my two year old would let me. Turns out, he taught me a great lesson in working harder – while NOT leaving me alone.

The good news for you guys (our readers and subscribers) is that I am one of those Internet marketers that likes to share my knowledge of Internet marketing and SEO. For those of you who don’t already know me, (just Google my name – Matt Siltala) I have been doing Internet marketing since 1999, before I really knew it had a name and I have been link building since 1997.
